Thanks to The Robertson Trust funding NEECS is bringing back its Young Person Counselling Service.

We provide free and donation-based 1:1 counselling to adults and young people living in North East Edinburgh and have done so since 1995. Our expertise in providing a person-centred and trauma-informed service has gained us an excellent reputation in the local community and our service is seeing unabatedlevels of demand. Demand is particularly high amongst young people – 55% of our service users are under 35.

We have now re-opened our Young Person Counselling Service, where we will provide a tailored service for those living in the North East aged 16-25 years – making sure they get help quick and without having to ask multiple times. A survey by Young Mind’s revealed that morethan one in four young people (26%) said they hadtried to take their own life as a result of having to wait for mental health support and almost one in 10 (9%) young people were turned away.

We will be working with local partners in promoting the service and as always, will also accept self-referrals through our website.
