It came at just the right time and saved me from having to use medication.

My counsellor’s method of explaining my delusions to me & teaching me how to recognise my paranoias and how to cope with them calmly.

The service was good, but waiting time is too long. If someone has no other resources or is feeling very low, this can be extremely difficult to cope with.

I've applied for long term counselling. I feel that I have just begun but I'm proud of progress so far.

I have been able to identify skills to help me deal with issues in my life.

I found NEECS to be a great, friendly user-focused service & I’m appreciative of the accessibility to people on low incomes.

Felt like a private, secure space to explore issues outside of the mental health system.

The sessions helped me to look at things in a different way. Also it helped to release pressure out of my chest.

I was feeling on a meltdown, now I feel I’m in a calmer state. It’s progress.


When applying for this service, please check the list is open and that when you wish to attend matches with when NEECS offers its appointments. Our Home Page states when our current sessions are.

This service offers an initial assessment appointment, followed by six counselling sessions, on the same day and time each week. Following this, our counsellors will review progress and may offer further sessions. We are unable to say how long you will have to wait for an appointment, but we will offer an appointment as soon as possible within your stated availability to attend.

At your initial Assessment appointment, you will be given the opportunity to:

  • Talk about what has brought you to counselling;
  • Hear about what counselling could offer you;
  • Decide, together with your counsellor, that counselling is suitable for you

Having checked the service is open and that you can attend when we are available,  please complete the self-referral form to the right.  By providing NEECS with the requested details we consider this as confirmation you agree to us using them to provide you with the service requested. NEECS will only ever use your details for this purpose.  All NEECS staff comply with NEECS' Privacy/Confidentiality Requirements..
